Benefits of Biote Bioidentical Hormone Optimization Therapy

Biote Hormone Optimization Therapy is a Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. It is a method of restoring the balance of your hormones and aiming to relieve symptoms, using compounded hormones that are identical in structure to those your body naturally produces. By using chemically identical compounds, your body recognizes and uses these replacement hormones in exactly the same way it would hormones it produces naturally. People who use Biote report the following improvements.

  • Increased energy: Feel revitalized and ready to embrace your day.
  • Enhanced mood: Experience improved emotional well-being and reduced anxiety.
  • Better sleep: Enjoy restful nights as your hormones regain balance.
  • Improved libido: Rediscover your passion and enhance your intimate relationships.
  • Weight management: Achieve easier weight control with balanced hormones.

What to Expect During Hormone Replacement Therapy

Preparation: Call to schedule a consultation with a medical provider. During this meeting, you can discuss your goals and the provider will explain HRT and determine what dosage may be correct for you. Labs will be taken to evaluate your current status.  If you are currently taking hormones we will want you to be off the medicine at time of labs to see your natural levels of hormones.

Insertion Procedure: The Biote pellet is inserted in either the flank or upper buttocks area. First, the area is numbed with a local anesthetic. You remain awake throughout the procedure. Once the area is completely numb, a small incision is made and the pellet is inserted. The incision is closed and you can return to normal activities.

Duration: The appointment is approximately 30 minutes long.

Frequency of Procedure: For women, the pellets last approximately 3-4 months and for men they remain effective for approximately 6 months. When the pellets begin to lose effectiveness, a new pellet can be inserted.

Frequently Asked Questions Hormone Replacement Therapy

What is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy?

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is a treatment that uses hormones that are chemically identical to those the body naturally produces.

What is hormone replacement therapy used for?

Hormone replacement therapy supplements and helps to balance out the body’s natural hormone levels. As people age their body’s production of hormones including estrogen and testosterone starts to reduce. These hormones are essential to how many areas of the body function, from the brain to bones, reproductive organs and more. This reduction in hormone production can leave people with a variety of symptoms that greatly reduce their quality of life. Hormone replacement therapy helps to restore the balance.

Does HRT work?

Hormone replacement therapy is a safe and effective way to balance the body’s natural hormone levels and allow you to feel better. People who use Biote Hormone Optimization Therapy report many benefits including increased energy, enhanced mood, better sleep quality and improved weight management.

How long does it take to feel the effects of HRT?

This can vary greatly between individuals. Generally people begin to notice improvements in a few weeks, but it can take multiple months to reach full effectiveness.

Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:

  • Initial Effects (1-4 weeks): Some patients may begin to experience increased energy, improved mood, and better sleep within the first few weeks.
  • Moderate Improvements (1-3 months): As the therapy continues, individuals often notice enhancements in libido, cognitive clarity, and a reduction in symptoms like hot flashes or night sweats.
  • Full Benefits (3-6 months): Many people report the most significant changes in overall well-being, such as weight management and muscle strength, after several months of treatment.

Does insurance cover HRT?

No. Hormone replacement therapy at Our Family Health is not covered by insurance and is a self-pay therapy.

Is hormone replacement therapy safe?

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) can be safe for many individuals when prescribed and monitored by a qualified healthcare provider like Our Family Health Center.

Our physicians take your full health picture into consideration when designing the right HRT program for you.

There are some individuals who should not take hormone therapy. Specifically, women with a history of breast cancer should not take estrogen. Men with prostate cancer should not take testosterone.

Some signs that you may benefit from hormone replacement therapy include:

  • Fatigue: Persistent tiredness or low energy levels that don’t improve with rest.
  • Mood Changes: Increased irritability, anxiety, or depression that affects daily life.
  • Sleep Disturbances: Difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or experiencing poor-quality sleep.
