Benefits of Tirzepatide
Taken as weekly injections, Tirzepatide can reduce appetite and increase feelings of fullness, reducing the challenges faced by many struggling to lose weight. Alongside lifestyle modifications, Tirzepatide has the potential to support up to 20% reduction of total body weight.
What is Tirzepatide?
Tirzepatide is a drug that was originally designed to treat type-2 diabetes by increasing insulin levels in the body, which in turn reduces blood sugar levels. Tirzepatide is administered through weekly injections.
How does Tirzepatide work?
Tirzepatide combines glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. These chemicals result in changes to the signals sent to the brain related to appetite and feelings of fullness. These changes in turn allow users to more easily lose weight.

What weight loss program is most effective?
Effectiveness is always going to come down to what works for an individual. A customized plan that begins with a medical evaluation of your overall health and includes ongoing monitoring and support with accountability is important to consider. Our Family Health offers both in our weight loss programs. Please listen to our podcast episode about the difference between Semaglutide and Tirzepatide for more information.
Is Tirzepatide effective for weight loss?
Alongside lifestyle modifications, Tirzepatide has the potential to help individuals reduce their weight by as much as 20%. It’s important to recognize that lifestyle factors such as getting adequate sleep, stress management, movement, and consuming nutrient-dense foods will be a part of any long-term successful weight-loss journey. Additionally, when use of the drug is discontinued, many patients gain back the weight they have lost. Our Program helps prevent this by working to motivate sustainable lifestyle changes and offering a maintenance program.
Does insurance cover the Medical Weight Loss Tirzepatide Program?
This program is not eligible for insurance coverage. Visits with medical providers are eligible for insurance coverage.
Is Tirzepatide the same as Mounjaro?
Tirzepatide is the generic name for the active ingredients in Mounjaro. Mounjaro was specifically approved by the FDA for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and is manufactured by Lilly.
Is Tirzepatide the same as Ozempic?
While both Tirzepatide and Ozempic can aid in weight loss, they are not the same. Ozempic is Novo Nordisk’s tradename for the generic medication Semaglutide. Ozempic has been specifically approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
Our Family Health offers a Semaglutide Medical Weight Loss program in addition to our Tirzepatide Medical Weight Loss Program.
Semaglutide is a GLP-1 agonist that can help to control appetite and increase feelings of fullness. Tirzepatide in contrast combines a glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and GLP-1 receptor agonist. This combination makes Tirzepatide a more effective tool for some people.
How do I ensure I don’t lose muscle while taking Tirzepatide?
Our Tirzepatide Medical Weight Loss program includes regular body composition scale measurements to obtain a comprehensive view into your body composition analysis to evaluate that you are losing fat, not muscle, and staying well hydrated. Our medical providers can then work with you to suggest additional movement and muscle building plans when indicated.
Does Tirzepatide have any side effects?
As with all medications, some users do experience side effects. The most common side effect experienced while taking Tirzepatide is stomach pain. Your medical team member will discuss all side effects with you before prescribing Tirzepatide and can work with you to navigate any GI-related side-effects.
Is there a Maintenance Program available?
Yes, we offer a maintenance program for people who have previously taken a GLP-1 either through Our Family Health or from another provider. This program offers two 5.0 mg injections of Tirzepatide two times a month (every 14 days) for $239/month. To enroll in this program, please contact 770-464-0280.
How is pricing for month 1 determined?
If you are new to GLP-1 prescriptions, the dosage for month one will be 2.5 mg, with a price of $329/month. For dosages above 2.5 mg and up to 12.5 mg, a price of $489/month will be applied. Therefore, if you have previously taken a GLP-1 and are transitioning to Tirzepatide at a dosage higher than 2.5 mg, you will pay $489/month.
