Understanding Aesthetic Services
In this blog post, we’ll explore a range of treatments designed to enhance your natural beauty and boost your confidence. Whether you’re curious about facials, injectables, or other cosmetic procedures, this blog post and our recent podcast episode will provide valuable insights into the options available and what they entail.
Differentiating Day Spa Facials from Medical Facials
A common misconception is equating medical facials with day spa facials. While both have merits, they serve different purposes. Day spa facials focus on the outer epidermis, providing relaxation and superficial skin benefits. In contrast, medical facials performed in a clinical setting penetrate deeper layers of the skin to stimulate collagen production and offer longer-lasting results. Due to their intensity, these procedures often require numbing, but the outcomes are significantly more effective.
Carboxy Facials: A Deeper Dive
One popular treatment is the carboxy facial, also known as a carbon dioxide facial. This procedure involves injecting carbon dioxide just under the skin’s surface, which helps to relax fine lines, reduce wrinkles, and even fade scars. Despite the name, it’s crucial to note that carbon dioxide facials are safe and utilize natural gas already in our bodies. The procedure is generally well-tolerated with minimal discomfort, and while one treatment can yield noticeable results, a series of three to six sessions spaced a week apart maximizes the benefits. We also offer carboxytherapy treatments for areas of the body to minimize stretch marks, fade scars, and address other concerns.
Microneedling and PRP Facials
Microneedling, another sought-after treatment, involves using a device with tiny needles to create micro-injuries on the skin’s surface. This process stimulates collagen production and allows for better absorption of therapeutic products. Microneedling is often combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, where your blood is processed to extract the platelets, which are then applied to the skin. This combination enhances the skin’s healing process, reduces inflammation, and promotes a youthful glow. For optimal results, three treatments spaced three weeks apart are recommended. Both of these aesthetics services are offered at our wellness center.
Chemical Peels: Renewing the Skin
Chemical peels, while intimidating to some, are highly effective in removing dead skin cells and promoting new skin growth. Medical-grade peels, including VI Peel treatments, penetrate multiple skin layers, inducing collagen production and improving skin texture and tone. Various peel strengths are available depending on your skin type and desired outcomes. While peeling typically begins a few days post-treatment and can last up to two weeks, the results are well worth the temporary inconvenience.
Our aesthetics nurse practitioner, Kathy Hatmaker, FNP-BC, can work with you to determine the right VI Peel treatment for you.
Botox and Dermal Fillers: Smoothing and Volumizing
Botox and dermal fillers are household names in aesthetics. Botox, a neuromodulator, relaxes the muscles responsible for wrinkles, providing a smoother appearance. It’s commonly used on the forehead, around the eyes, and even to enhance the lips subtly. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, restore lost volume and contour the face. They are particularly effective for deep lines, such as nasolabial folds, and can plump lips. The amount needed varies per individual and requires a consultation to determine the best approach.
Daily Skincare: The Foundation of Aesthetic Treatments
While aesthetic treatments can provide significant improvements, maintaining a good skincare routine is essential. High-quality, medical-grade skincare products can enhance and prolong the results of your aesthetic procedures. Think of daily skincare as brushing your teeth and aesthetic treatments as your regular dental visits—both are crucial for optimal health and appearance.
