How do VI Chemical Peels Work?
VI Peels contain a unique blend of acid compounds that penetrate the outer layers of the skin, increase cellular turnover and the production of collagen while also reducing inflammation. VI Peels are only available from licensed practitioners who are thoroughly trained to be able to accurately assess your skin needs and conditions, and correctly apply treatments.
Before applying the VI Peel treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed to allow for the greatest penetration of the product into the skin. The peel is then applied to the surface of the skin, and left in place. When the product is applied, there may be a tingling sensation for 10 seconds while the numbing agent is absorbed by the skin. The treatment is left on the skin for four hours and then you remove it in your own home.
Your provider will review all post-appointment care requirements, and let you know what to expect in the coming days.
Check out the video from VI for more details and to get a look at the procedure and aftercare requirements.

How many peels will I need to see results?
The number of treatments needed to get the results you want depends on a variety of factors. Some people may be satisfied with their results after a single treatment. Others may require multiple treatments to address things like significant scarring or deep wrinkles.
We will work with you to help determine both the best type of treatment for your goals and the frequency that may be needed to achieve and maintain your results.
Our 3-treatment bundles offer a great way to save over single session pricing, and may help you to achieve your desired outcome.
How frequently can I have a peel?
Peels can be administered every three weeks. Your provider will work with you to determine optimal frequency as well as the best type of peel to use in each session.
Do chemical peels hurt?
The level of pain and discomfort experienced during and following a chemical peel depends on many factors, including individual pain tolerances and sensitivities.
VI Peels have been designed to provide the best possible, least painful experience available on the market today. VI Peels include Phenol as one of the active ingredients which both provides a numbing effect and aids in the deeper penetration of the peel, increasing both your comfort and treatment effectiveness. When a VI peel is first applied, you may feel a tingling sensation for the first 10 seconds while the phenol takes effect.
If you experience any pain during or following your treatment, your provider will help to determine ways to manage or treat the issue.
What is going to happen after my treatment session?
In the days after your treatment session, you will need to follow the post-treatment care process outlined here in order to achieve maximum results.
During this time, you will begin to see peeling of the treated area, but the degree of peeling varies widely from one individual to the next. Even if you don’t have significant or noticeable peeling of your skin in large sheets, the ingredients are still working at the cellular level and increasing cellular turnover. It is this cellular turnover that will result in better texture and tone.
You can resume your regular skin care routine on day 7 following your treatment.
What areas of my body can be treated with a chemical peel?
All VI Peels can be applied to the face, back, neck, arms and legs.
Are there any post treatment instructions?
Appropriate care following the application of the peel is very important for achieving maximum effectiveness. Your provider will review these instructions with you before you leave your appointment. Please refer to this post treatment instruction sheet for helpful guidance after your treatment.
What is in a VI Peel?
VI Peels contain unique combinations of the following components:
- Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA): TCA is effective in treating fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes, and pigment problems. It works by penetrating the skin’s surface and promoting exfoliation and collagen production
- Retinoic Acid: A derivative of vitamin A, retinoic acid promotes cell turnover, helping to shed dead skin cells and stimulate the production of new ones. It also helps in reducing acne and improving skin texture
- Salicylic Acid: Known for its ability to deeply cleanse the pores and reduce inflammation, salicylic acid is particularly effective for treating acne and preventing future breakouts
- Phenol: This ingredient provides a numbing effect and aids in deeper penetration of the peel, allowing for a more comfortable treatment experience. It also helps in reducing fine lines and treating deeper skin issues
- Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid): Vitamin C acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting the skin from free radical damage, and helps in brightening the skin and improving overall skin tone
